“Awakening the Past”

Enter formed in Milan, Italy, in 1988 as a progressive rock band inspired by history, myth, and musical exploration. Founded by Gabriele Bulfon (keyboards) and Marco Ferranti (drums), with Franco Avalli (bass), and Vittorio Ballerio (vocals), the band composed nearly a dozen pieces themed around lost civilizations and ancient legends—such as Atlantis, Lemuria and Gondwana—blending synth-driven prog rock with evocative choral and lyrical elements. A demo tape was recorded in 1991, followed by several live performances in Milan, but the band disbanded before releasing a full album.

More than 30 years later, in 2022, Enter reunited to craft a brand new concept album: “Awakening the Past”. With the spirit of the original vision intact, the pianist expanded the sonic palette with jazz fusion, orchestral arrangements, and modern production techniques such as a Virtual Orchestra, composing five expansive tracks (each 7–9 minutes long), with great contributions by the drummer and the other elements of the band, through three years of intense work.

The album brings together the complete cast of contributors—original band members and a lineup of international guest artists:

  • Gabriele Bulfon (piano, virtual orchestra, backing vocals)
  • Marco Ferranti (drums, lead and backing vocals)
  • Vittorio Ballerio (lead vocals)
  • Franco Avalli (bass)
  • Vivien Searcy (lead vocals) recorded in Sweden

  • Jimmy Keegan (lead vocals) recorded in Los Angeles

  • Scott T. Jones (guitars) recorded in Saint Louis

  • Diego Belluschi, Fabio Troiani, Simone Geravini (guitars)

  • Marco Melloni (bass)

  • Pietro Bulfon (choir)

Each track—Orpheus and Eurydice, The Age of Colossus, Excalibur, Moai, and Göbekli Tepe—delves into the mysteries of humanity’s past through richly layered compositions and poetic storytelling. The album cover, designed by the Milanese artist Davide Agostoni using also AI, visualizes a woman floating in ancient ruins, her hair woven like fiber optic strands into the fabric of history—dreaming, and awakening the past. The Enter logo is the original design created in 1988 by longtime friend and amateur graphic artist Armando Iurilli, preserving the spirit of the band’s origins.
The entire album was mixed and mastered by veteran sound engineer Didi Bagnoli at Bagnoli Bros Studio in the scenic town of Castelnovo ne’ Monti (Reggio Emilia, Italy), bringing depth, clarity, and cohesion to the final sound.

The album will be released on all major streaming platforms, as well as in CD and vinyl formats. As part of this rebirth, the band has also reissued their original 1990 demo tape, now available digitally as a tribute to their beginnings.
